HILT team — people behind the black light

Theodor learned dance quietly while at business school; when the stage lights turned on, the family pride did too. From classical to modern and disco, groups to TV next to popular singers — he gravitated to black light, co-founded HILT with Štěpánka in 2007, toured the world, and still creates, leads, and dances.

Štěpánka fulfilled her acting dreams right inside black light. While HILT was starting, she calmly finished a university degree in agriculture. Musicals, opera, big and small stages, Czech and international film — she’s walked them all. Since 2007 she co-leads HILT and stays a hands-on performer.

A helpful message on a tough day — Lyme-related, urgent, practical — led Horazio to HILT. Theodor noticed the production brains and the marketing stamina; the collaboration stayed. Our digital right hand, inbox advisor and spreadsheet whisperer.

Urgent vacancy, one rehearsal, clear decision. From scenic dance only to the leading dance face of HILT — gentle on stage, steady in pace; in private life she also works in security.

Covid-era online debates brought Dana and Theodor together. A cheerful soul who helps families at a funeral service by day; for HILT she brings negotiation and admin precision, plus dependable backstage hands for lightning costume changes.

Daughter of actor Josef Kuhn — Theodor noticed her at thirteen; short scenes first, confidence later. Today she proudly alternates with Štěpánka. She finished as a ladies’ tailor and continues with window-display arrangement.

Old friends from early black-light days, Hana joined HILT after its founding and toured widely. She remains active; offstage she’s a mother of two and works at Prague’s Václav Havel Airport.

In the HILT black light theatre she is the costume designer — this is our Petra Široká, the reliable part of the team. Once a nurse, later enchanted by black light, now the backstage anchor for on-time quick-changes.

He met Štěpánka during months of filming The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian — she acted, he was a coordinator (he is a former film stuntman in general, not on that film). Film know-how turned into HILT tour tech leadership alongside Martin Mackovič.

Petra’s son — raised among quick-changes and glow-tape. After a year of trying tricks in rehearsals he got a full role. Now a steady hand in the dark; an “accidental” talent that fits our family mood.

Theatre via life: Martin is Theodor’s life partner for over ten years. IT background; first technician and lighting operator, later actor. Two hats, one company — he still wears both.

Drama and improvisation for a lifetime, a friendship with Theodor, and black light became life. One of HILT’s longest-serving members. Offstage he’s a data manager in a large Prague hospital, hematology — leukemias.

Unplanned and suddenly essential: a spider prop that never made stage, stayed on the dressing-room wall, got a name, became a loved half-meter mascot. Theatre needs a heart; she is ours.
