HILT Black Light Theatre

Black light theatre glow figure

Black light theatre is wordless stage magic: under UV light, black-clad performers “disappear,” so masks, puppets and glowing objects seem to move by themselves.

It’s pure visual storytelling—playful, surprising, and understood by any audience.

HILT is a world-traveling ensemble performing this craft on major stages and festivals.
In Prague we share it in an intimate, historic venue with 50 seats, inviting you close to the light born from darkness.

When Theatre Happens at Lunch: Worshipping the Waitress :-D

At HILT Black Light Theatre, we believe that theatre doesn’t end at the stage door. Sometimes, it sneaks out with us into the world—like that day at a Prague restaurant, when a simple lunch break became a scene to remember.

Director Theo and our actor Martin were having a regular meal. But when the waitress came to the table, something mischievous sparked. Without a word, we both got down on our knees and began worshipping her as if she were a goddess descending from the heavens.

For a split second, the world stopped. The waitress froze in bewilderment, standing as still as a marble statue. Guests nearby fell silent, their cutlery suspended midair. No one knew what was happening—least of all our poor waitress.

Was there a deeper meaning? Maybe. Maybe not. Sometimes, theatre is just about breaking the monotony and reminding everyone—ourselves included—that playfulness is a sacred thing. For us, life itself is a stage, and everyone deserves to be celebrated—even the people who bring us our coffee.

So here’s to all the waitresses, waiters, and everyday heroes: may you never know when you’ll be applauded, worshipped, or swept into an impromptu performance.

And if you ever find us out in Prague, don’t be surprised if theatre follows us to lunch. After all, HILT isn’t just what we do—it’s who we are.

P.S. Yes, the waitress eventually laughed. But she still checks under every table, just in case…
