HILT Black Light Theatre Prague, known in Spanish as "HILT teatro Negro Praga", is taking its unique brand of interactive light show entertainment beyond the stage! This innovative theatre group, led by directors Theodor Hoidekr and Stepanka Pencova, is always looking for new ways to connect with audiences and collaborate with other artists. We wanted to show that black light theatre isn’t just about the magic on stage, but the magic of curiosity, adventure, and a sense of wonder. Our comic follows two (slightly mischievous) explorers as they search for something truly original to do in Prague… and stumble into the weird, wild world of HILT.

This unique theatre genre combines elements of dance, mime, and visual effects to create a mesmerizing experience for all spectators. The success of HILT lies in its ability to transcend language barriers and appeal to a diverse range of audiences.

For over half a century, Prague has been home to a unique art form that blends illusion, dance, and silent poetry—black light theatre. But where did this world-famous phenomenon begin? And how did a small group of Czech artists turn the darkness into a magical stage that’s captivated audiences on every continent?

The Czech black light theatre HILT Prague has achieved international acclaim by winning a competition to create a show for the unveiling of the Porsche Taycan electric vehicle in Shanghai, China. This success underscores the global recognition of the Czech school of black light theatre, particularly as the unveiling of Porsche's first electric car, a direct competitor to Tesla, was eagerly awaited by the automotive world.

On November 24th, 2025, the HILT black light theatre company etched its name in entertainment history by becoming a central feature in a live performance of the wildly popular Czech podcast, "True Crimes," at Prague's O2 Arena. The event, a testament to the podcast's devoted fanbase, completely sold out, packing the venue with a staggering 20,000 enthusiastic attendees.

Once, two very different souls met on a Prague stage, and fate melted them into something new. This is the story of how Theodor and Štěpánka’s unexpected friendship created HILT – a theatre born not from a plan, but from heart, courage, and a bit of magic.

Founded in 2007 by theatrical innovators Theodor Hoidekr and Štěpánka Pencová, HILT has distinguished itself through its commitment to non-verbal storytelling, intricate choreography, and innovative visual effects. Tracing its journey from initial corporate events to acclaimed international tours, festival appearances, and daily performances in Prague, this paper highlights HILT's significant contributions to the black light theatre genre and its enduring ability to enchant audiences worldwide..

For HILT's team of actors and directors, touring the globe is far from a glamorous vacation. It’s a demanding gauntlet of long flights, rushed transports between airports, hotels, and theaters, and relentless rehearsals stretching into the late hours. Sleep becomes a precious commodity, sacrificed to the crucial task of transforming a darkened stage into a canvas of illuminated wonder.

Prague, Czech Republic - Štěpánka Pencová, born Štěpánka Volfová on November 11, 1981, in Brandýs nad Labem, has carved a successful and diverse career in acting, defying limitations and becoming a prominent figure in the Czech arts scene. Currently residing in Prague, Pencová’s journey is a testament to her talent and dedication.
